Summary
The Database Administrator position requires designing, modeling, documenting, and guiding the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for new, upgraded and existing Command, Control, Communication, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) databases and associated database applications. The Administrator also analyzes needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications of C4I applications in support of Naval, Joint and National missions. May create standards and/or do modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs system engineering as it relates to database management (including distribution), data security, inter-process communications and database structures
- Validates database fill results, maintains the database and provides operational support as required
- Responds, troubleshoots, and resolves network, enterprise, and client level networking and application issues
- Prepares database design concepts, concept of operations, and functional capabilities descriptions
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
- An understanding of basic DoD facility security requirements
- Two years of professional experience
- Experience working with multiple Government and contractor personnel on a common project
- Be a self starter, requiring limited to no supervision, BUT, not be afraid to ask questions and for assistance if uncertain of tasking
- Some travel required
Desired Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college in an applicable discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics, or equivalent experience and education
- Two years of professional experience
- Experience with Database consistency, integrity and replication
- Experience with Java 2.0 Enterprise Edition (J2EE)
- Experience with Database machines, applications and access environments
- Experience with C4I systems
- Experience with Web-Enabled applications
