Summary
The Data Architect is responsible for definition, structure, integration, quality, security and maintenance of data in variety of data formats. The Data Architect will become familiar with products, services and business processes at the site/location and is responsible to ensure that the data architecture, design and governance process is well integrated to support organizational needs, direction and priorities. The Data Architect also evaluates and evolves the data architecture based upon successful solution deployments.
The Data Architect works with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Project Managers, the Senior Technical Architect, Database Administrators, and Database Development Engineers to create and maintain the overall data architecture, priorities, roadmap, success measures, and data governance process for site/location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Define, document and maintain the data architecture through working with business analysts and through reverse engineering of existing data systems and uses
- Facilitate and document business rules with respect to appropriate data and its usage
- Evaluate reusability of current data for additional analyses, and conduct data cleaning to rid the system of old, unused, or duplicate data
- Ensure all data architecture and model components are properly integrated and implemented
- Provide support and verify quality through all stages of implementation
- Work closely with the Senior Technical Architect, Project Management, DBA, Software Developers and QA to coordinate product and system releases, data structure evolution, capacity planning and forecasting
- Play a key role in designing the transactional, data warehousing and reporting infrastructure for various products and systems
- Perform other work as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the organization
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent ability to communicate and work with technical and non-technical people alike
- Extensive capability in architecting, modeling, designing, and documenting data architectures, metadata systems, data dictionaries, databases and applications
- Shall have a working knowledge of a variety of relation DBMS products, with experience designing and programming for relational databases and experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), including custom cube design and configuration, coding, transfer rules, update rules, scheduled loads, etc.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum of 3 years applicable experience
